2004 is the year of OPM. Pinoy Music completely blew all of us off this year. No other time, except in the early 90s (Remember the mega-phenomenon called the "Eraserheads") has local music been more successful than Western music or even Asian tunes (F4 anyone?).

"
Kahit Na"
Kahit Na is such a good song. It has this ethnic vibe into it that makes it much more radio-friendly. I always hear it on RX. Well, actually I only hear it on RX. I can't remember the vid for this song. But I know I have seen it. The song isn't in the album in the pic beside this. I don't know if the song is just a single. But with the success it is experiencing right now, they should put up an album kaagad. Now is the perfect time for an OPM album. It just flies off the shelves.

"
I Don't Want To Be Your Friend"
I get to listen to this song so many times in a day. That includes hearing it on RX, watching it on Myx and MTV. Even sa corridors ng UP, pag may kumakanta nito. It is just addictive / addicting. Nakaka adik siya talaga. The video was just not that good for me. I mean why does it have to be the fat camera guy doing it with Nina, I mean being paired up with Nina. Can't she get someone worthier? She also wasn't that much of a beauty coz I think she looks older in the video. I also don't get the beach theme. Like its December right now and there she is on the beach. But then again, who knows if the video was shot months ago. Right? And I heard this is also an international release, so I guess that explains the vid.

"
Lunes / Suntok Sa Buwan"
Session Road's "Suntok Sa Buwan" is another ear pleaser. I'm not sure if they are the guys from UP. I'm not sure if it was Session Road or Bridge that came from UP. But whether they're from UP or not, they make good music to me. "Lunes," by Spongecola is again an RX spawned hit. I can't recall any song of Spongecola aside from this one. Can anyone help me? I want to hear other songs from them. Though the name Spongecola rings a bell. I know I've heard that name somewhere. I just can't figure out where and when. Again, I highly recommend this song! Try it, you'll like it.

"
Wag Na Wag Mong Sasabihin"
I love the song. But I don't watch Lovers in Paris. Hehe. Magkano kaya binayad ng Channel 2 para makuha yung song na to? One big factor din tong song na to kaya hit yung series na yon. Anyway, here's something about Kitchie:
Right after Kitchie Nadal left Mojofly in June last year, her uplifting solos “Deliverance” and “Run” suddenly appeared on every radio station and major label compilation, “Watch me now, don’t underestimate me, you’ve never seen me run, baby, “ sings 24-year old pop rock princess on the spirited single, “Run,” and now we surely will.
Kitchie hardly knew anything about the band scène when she joined Mojofly on a whim 3 years ago. She only used to write songs and sing for friends at home. “I had a hard time also, I had to compromise,” she confides. Kitchie’s schooling was also strained by her new rock star life, and not wanting to compromise that any longer, she left Mojofly for good to concentrate on her double degree in psychology and education. “In the beginning pa lang sinabi ko na school is the priority,” she stresses. “Now I can do things at my own pace.”
Kitchie stewed for a year, and found her voice amidst Fionna Apple’s angst, Queen’s theatrics, and Skunk Annaisie’s power. With these inspirations, it’s no wonder that her ten-track self-titled debut has taken on a rock edge.
And it isn’t just her musical direction that has gotten stronger. Lyrically, she’s speaking more. “Gumising na, bumangon na pagka’t dina ikaw yung biktima,” she sings on “Bulong,” an anthemic song about people who refuse to do the right thing. In fact, most of Kitchie’s songs are tied to her positive spiritual life, one that’s guided by her faith and church family, the Victory Christian Fellowship. “I write songs as if they’re dreams; its not really clear but I see it, its like a dream interpretation.”
Bound by wakeful dreams, faith and honest talent, Kitchie’s debut album is sure to become a pop rock favorite in the local OPM scene.

"
Ikaw Nga"
No. It's not "Wherever You Are." I actually hate that song. Specially the part when the guy sings "
The wind that blows the dove is the wind that blows my love." That totally ruined it. For poetry sake, please don't make it too obvious (Note: dove and love.. geez!). Ikaw Nga is a nice song, not because of Mulawin. Its an underrated love song. I guess because it is now being equated with the drama series that Rx and Magic aren't jumping on the song. May pagka jologs-trademark na cya because its being used as the themesong sa isang mejo-corny na palabas. Pero my judgment of music goes beyond the trademarks. If it sounds good to me, then its worth listening to. And this one is.
